I read somewhere, and I can't remember where, that used dryer sheets make good collage elements. I have been saving them lately and I gave it a try. I made this background in my huge altered biology book. The gesso was already there, I just added the dryer sheet with gel medium, and then did a wash of walnut ink.
Savannah drew this when she was supposed to be going to sleep. She put it on my bed for me to find. I love it! I thought it was a butterfly but she said that it'sa nice vampire.
I was asked by Debbie to take part in last week's challenge at Because You're Speshal. I got to be the guest artist! Lots 'o fun! I was thrilled when Debbie asked me to participate.
The topic was "my favorite..."
I did a scrapbook page in a way I hadn't before. I added my collage look to it. I started with a photo from Vogue magazine (I bought the huge fall issue last year---it's FULL of neat ads). I just started grabbing things that I had laying around my messy desk at the time (one of my favorite things to do) and pasting them down with soft gel medium. I finished the whole page with my recent fav paint color: pale blue. Just slopped it on.
I decided my word is "distracted". Lainie's alphabetica journal called for me to pick my word and make a page. I am so easily distracted anymore, so I had to go with that!. I can't stick with something and concentrate on it like I used to. My kids try to talk to me while I'm shopping or cooking dinner, and I can't concentrate. If the FedEx guy comes while I am cleaning, I become involved with what he brought. If I walk through a room with a load of laundry and see another mess, I'll start working on that mess and forget I was doing laundry. ...or my favorite; forgetting what I was talking about in the middle of a sentence!
