The one about the grumpy post

I am down in the dumps today.
I don't like to put grumpy posts on my blog, but this time I feel like complaining. I am pretty sure I am doomed to be fat my entire life. Will I ever know what it is like to have narrow hips? No double chin? I know I have good things in my life but my weight problem brought me to tears again yesterday and today. So many times I have tried to get rid of my fat and my body just won't let me. That causes me to hate my body even more and that is not a good thing. This time this diet was working for me. Lost ten pounds in April, then it slowed down to four in May, and this month I have gained two pounds back. All with diet and exercise. I am not okay with the way I am and I am not okay with my lack of weight-loss. I am doing the work---why can't I have the reward?
I found this ad while sorting for the vintage paper swap. I thought it was humorous---the things manufacturers will say to sell their product, huh? I guarantee a woman with that figure does not drink full-calorie soda. And you won't get a figure like that by drinking full-calorie soda, either.

Oh, Marilyn, big hugs...I feel your pain. I have thyroid disease and I have no problem gaining weight, but losing it is another story. I can count points for 3 weeks straight, not cheat once, and not even drop a pound. It's terrible. Anyway, I hear ya, I feel ya, I'm right there in it with ya, sistah.

I'm sorry Marilyn!! Right now I'm at the heaviest I've ever been. I am tyring to go off my anti-depressants though because I really think they play a big part in gaining and not losing weight. I really do look up to you though for working out and eating right. I have not done those things, even with a Curves membership. We should go walking sometime together!

Don't let the media (even vintage media) get you down! No one has a perfect body. And those with close to perfect bodies don't even like their bodies.

On another note... I received my vintage paper pack today. Is everyone else as excited as me? This was so much fun! If I didn't have to go to a wedding tonight I'd be crafting all night. Thank you sooooooo much for hosting this.

I am sorry about your weight loss struggles. I lost weight when I quit my job and then after I had our daughter then it crept back on and I thought maybe I should breastfeed again since that seemed to suck it off of me! It's not fair but I really think that if you eat healthy and exercise that your body will like that and gradually it will get to it's correct weight. Even if it's not exactly as low as you may want it to be on the scale. :)

I hear you!!! And totally understand~ what get's me through it is remember (religious talk here)
that after we are resurceted, in the next life we will be our skinny size once again!!!! And someday, I will be able to put my wedding dress on again. (NOW I can only get one leg in it)

I have been walking 2.5 miles, 4 days a week, for the past month, and I have only lost 2 lbs. So trust me I understand.

(((((HUGS))))) & I cannot wait for my paper package tomorrow!

I think we ALL struggle with this, Marilyn, but liek you we try to put on a happy face and forge on.
It is amazingly frustratign how we can work so HARD and not see any results, yet some of our peers give equal or less effort ant the lbs. just melt off.

The only consolation is that even though i may be chubby, I am smarter and more "together" than I have ever been in my entire 41 years, and I count myself to be blessed with the most AMAZING friendships and life experiences. Chubby aside, I am pretty happy how "me" is turning out.

I fight my weight like most of us. Remember the average size in the US is a 14, NOT the 0's that are all over the mags and media.

A tip from a family friend that my (fat) husband and I laugh about all the time... her advice...

{{If it tastes good, spit it out}} lol Don't quit, it'll happen for you. I am on the one year plan with 2 friends at WW. Me and my plump self with see you next weekend!

its very funny that the add considers you "modern" (they stated this 3 times) if you are slim!...

I think the media has a bad habbit of telling us what we "should be" as a way to sell their products!
Its all about THE SALE!

we should be defining ourselves!

I'm new to your blog, but just had to comment on this one. I am totally in the same place! It's the only area of my life where I'm unhappy! Have you ever seen Our Lady of Weightloss' site? It's great-all about using art as a way to way lose weight. Visit her at It's fun (& inspiring).

I dont care how skinny any one is, we ALL struggle in some form or another with weight. At this moment in time, I just concentrate on walking because it feels good and if I lose a pound so be it if I dont thats just as fine, I am happy just walking and it sets me up for a healthy day of eating. Hang in there girl! you are a great lady and oohhhhh so talented...... beautiful is what I am really trying to say! hugs-Lilia
