The one about new music

Want a free book???

I have four copies to give away...

I just need some help in return.

it's an easy request, though.

I need some new music. I need suggestions because I think it is easier to find music from someone's suggestions rather than just waiting to hear something on the radio that I like. There is so much out there anymore that I'm not familiar with.

Like, music from this century. hee hee

I have this box of Designing With Details books here that I have for a while but didn't really say anything since I am not happy with the work I did (I was very uninspired last summer!). But the books are just sitting here....waiting for someone to look at them and enjoy them. The other scrapbook pages in this book are pretty cool!

So....leave me a comment that includes your playlist of songs (nothing older than the last 7 years or so). I am gonna give a book to the one with the longest list of music for me to look into, but I will also do a drawing for three more books that I will give away!!!

I would describe my favorite music to be alternative rock, post grunge, alternative metal..whatever you wanna call it. Maybe even a little industrial and goth.

...and here's a silly pic of me. :O

Hi Mariln,

I've got some playlists that I love on my iTunes. One is just a general mix, the other is unbelievably country music. (Can't believe I'm actually listening to country.) I also have a Jazz mix I love, and some old Sinatra lounge music.

Can you tell I've been into music lately?

I can download them into an Excel file very easily and will email them to you. Can you read an Excel file OK with your computer? I'll use the email that I use with our Alphabetica group if that's OK.

Oh, I love finding great new music!! If you want, I'd be happy to send you a CD mix to get the juices flowing! Mix CDs are my favorite ;-) Okay, here is my current, all time favorites:

Blind Melon - Rediscovered them recently. They have a new "Best of" out now. I always thought I'd like them, but I'm madly in love. I have a hard time listening to anything else lately. So amazingly talented! I had no idea!!

Steven Delopoulos - Just rediscovered him, too. He's with a band called Burlap to Cashmere, but his solo stuff is unusual and deep. You can check out some of his stuff on Utube to start out with. Folk Rock w/ lots of genres mixed in.

Over the Rhine - all time fav. You can listen to streaming feed on OvertheRhine.com

The Decemberists
The Fray
The Shins
Patty Griffin - all time favortite
Ray LaMontagne

I don't have a huge list b/c I tend to fixate on certain things I love, but hopefully, you'll find something you like here!

Oh gawd, I feel old! Don't know half the groups anyone is talking about, but here are some of my likes:

George Clinton - Atomic Dog
Kanye West - Stronger
K.T. Tunstall - Both CD's are great

Anything else I listed would probably be 7 years or older, as I am loyal to the folks I listen to. I in fact do not own an iPod, and just recently got a cell phone, so go figure...

Hi, I love your page!!! I can't wait to meet you, I'm coming to the art group. I'm Shannon I have a ton of different genres of music, but am unsure what you might like. Heres a partial list of my stuff. actually not, I'm unsure the best way to put them on. The favorite CD I've been listening to lately is Devil Doll - "The Return of Eve". My favorite song is # 3 "Gypsy Bitch". I think you might only be able to order online. You could listen to clips of her 1st CD, & I didn't like it as well. I'm unsure if she has clips from The Return of Eve? Have you listened to Ween? They're really fun & weird!! I love the new- New York Dolls CD!! I like Kaiser Chiefs, The Ramones, Wheatus, Mica, Nine Inch Nails, She Wants Revenge, The Raconteurs, Dr Dog, Wilco, The Jayhawks, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Scissor Sisters, Spoon, Lucinda Williams, Jet, I LOVE the White Stripes, & Tom Waits. Those are just a few, & not all alternative, but some different ones. I also love a ton of old standard older Rock & Roll, Like Grateful Dead Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones", Alt. Country, Blues, Jams, Folk, ETC. but maybe you only want new, modern rock stuff. I may not give you the longest list, but definitely have the most varied!!! The 2 BEST ways I find the new music, are- KRCL 90.9 FM in Salt Lake. You'll have to go online to preview their program guide, which is different types of music played by volunteers every few hours. They also keep play lists, for finding out the singers. # 2 is- going to Borders, Barnes&Noble, any music store, & listen to their picks or new picks. Anyway, maybe we can talk some music at the group? Or go listening to music?
