The one about the ledger pages

...must
...find
...ledger pages!
I have been on a hunt for a really good vintage ledger for almost two years now. I am cheap and didn't want to pay the prices they go for on eBay (for the good ones; really old with beautiful handwriting) but it has become obvious I ain't gonna find one around here.
so..I have a few ledger pages and I used a small section of one. Here's a quick gift I made for an internet friend...and I ended up covering up most of the darn ledger page!

The one about going places....

This is for Tia's journal in our Alphabetica project. Her theme is transportation and she made her book out of two license plates! She used one for each cover of the book, with rings though the holes in the edge of the plates to keep them together. It was cool!
I went with another mixed head - half modern and half vintage. It reads: "With a head like this, there's no doubt she'll be going places". Piece was created on an envelope.
Unlike Tia, I stink at writing with a white pen.

The one about the white chocolate cake

I'm about all birthday'd out this month. All that's left is London's birthday, then Austin's pizza & movie party with his friends.

3 c. flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
6 squares (1 oz each) chopped white chocolate
1/2 c. hot water
1 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
frosting:
6 squares (1 oz each) chopped white chocolate
2 1/2 Tbs flour
1 c. milk
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
sift together the 3 c. flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. set aside. In small saucepan, melt 6 oz. white chocolate and hot water over low heat. Stir until smooth. Cool to room temp. In large bowl, cream 1 cup butter with 1 1/2 c. sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Stir in flour mixture alternating with buttermilk. Mix in melted white chocolate and vanilla. Pour batter into two 9 inch rounds that have had bottoms greased with shortening and lined with waxed paper. Bake 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Cool at least one hour before CAREFULLY removing from pans.
for frosting combine 6 oz white chocolate, 2 1/2 Tbs flour, and milk in small saucepan. Cook over med heat, stirring constantly until thick. Cool to room temp. In large bowl cream 1 c butter with 1 c sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla. Beat until fluffy. Gradually add cooled white chocolate mixture. Beat on high until it is the consistency of whipped cream.
***use only high-quality white chocolate and real butter

The one about the pony party

We made paper crowns for the kids to color and decorate with punched cardstock jewels, played pin-the-tail-on-the-pony, wrapped up a big sucker about a million times for that unwrapping game, and gave out horns & treat sacks filled with goodies. I put the kids to work on helping me with everything.

By the way....Duncan Hines Creamy Homestyle Classic Vanilla frosting tastes just like Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

The one about the conundrum

I have a list of words that I like...for no particular reason other than they sound cool to me. The word conundrum has been in my head lately so I made this.
As I was putting it together, I kept trying to figure out what the condundrum is. Then, towards the end I realized her problem was her face. She has a huge problem going on, wouldn't you say? lol
I had fun with this piece---here are more views.

The one about the Field Trip

Went to the fire station today on a preschool field trip.
I doubt Amelia learned anything. LOL She didn't seem to be paying attention (therefore the certificate below makes me laugh!) except when one of the firemen put on all his gear and crawled along the floor.
She was fascinated by the big tires, and everyone got a sticker. Savannah got to go along since she has afternoon Kindergarten.

The one about stickin' a fork in it...
......they're done!
A little different, but then so am I. haaa! None of these cards are of the traditional fold---I messed with them a little. "Cute" isn't my thing.... but they wanted cutsie, so I did cutsie.
I had to put some of Me in them, hence the sheet music wings.
I forgot I wanted to put a jingle bell necklace on the angel. shoot.

The one about the Jingle Bells

I was asked to make several Christmas cards for a project for Super Saturday next month. I groaned because I can't make cards. Making cards for my brain is like trying to wring water out of a dry sponge. It just hurts. It was hard when I was doing Designing With Greetings last summer.
Today I had to go to Robert's for some DMC floss and I spotted these mini jingle bells. I bought a bunch and I am actually excited about making Christmas cards. I even had a flood of ideas tonight.
It was a feeling altogether new to me.
I am excited about making cards.

The one about The Scrapbook Lady

There is a sweet older lady that lives down the street. I met her in a family history class at church last May. I like her because she carries plastic bags with her when she walks her little dogs. (guess what the bags are for--yep) I like her for other reasons, too.
This morning she came by to invite me to her Salt City candle party she is having this week. She couldn't remember my name so she just wrote
Scrapbook Lady.
LOL

The one about the Fun Stuff on the Color Blog

The projects are now up on The Color Blog!
I was going for the whole thrift store look and those buttons were not fun to sew onto that canvas!
